Games Games and More Games from Fallout 3 to DeadSpace
What a time to be a Gamer.
It seems that Games are just flooding in and the weird part is that most of them are playable.
I am trying to get video reviews done on them but as I battle for time to do this, here is a quick break down of games.
NPO (just grabbing them off my desk)
Far Cry 2 - coolness of being able to blow stuff up (set grass on fire to flush out enemy) Negs... lots of traveling back and forth across a huge map. Multiplayer feels just slightly disconnected.
Crysis Warhead - meh... it is more Crysis, which is good but we got the same thrill out of just downloading custom maps. This doesn't take the game in any new directions. Of course we loved Crysis and by Gamer Law we were required to get this too... regrets - not really but not thrilled either.
Fallout 3 - WOW and double WOW. This game pushed all other games to the side AND stopped any type of productivity here at GameDemo.com thankfully but regrettably I finished the game and can return to a normal life but I was glued to this game. Be warned it is a HUGE character development FPS game... we didn't mind the long walks across vast wasteland (as compared to Far Cry 2 - because I was busy being a pack mule and cashing in junk for caps (so I could get that next weapon) Negative of the game... when it ended, I didn't know it was the end and I was pissed the game was over. There is some replay value in that you can go back and "act like a jerk"
Stalker - Clear Sky. Love the first - this is more of the same (similar to Crysis Warhead) - They setup the game that you are a different character playing on another part of the game, that you played in the first (... did that come out right?) Again we loved the first and this HAD to be bought and no real regrets - however Fallout 3 did push it to the background and now we are into Call of Duty World at War. Might get back to it but it is not jumping up on the radar to be played. (Little buggy too, crashes but not to the point of giving up on the game)
Call of Duty World at War: Single player is meh, Coop is slightly more enjoyable with not much replay value. Multiplayer is where it is at with some really nice maps. Just add tanks and replace choppers with rabid dogs and it is COD 4. Yeah you should get it.
Dead Space: this TOTALLY caught me off guard. This is a Single Player FPS Rail game. I HATE Rail games. I mean I really really HATE rail games. I feel the gaming industry takes advantage of us hardcore gamers pumping out these CRAP rail game so that they can easily make them cross platform (able to play on consoles) and they wrap in up in a nice bow that we as gamers can't help to buy and then we take in the *** when we load it up. Again I HATE Rail games and guesses what Dead Space is a Rail game and I LOVE IT. It celebrates its RAILness with a button you can push and a little neon glowing line appears in this cool HUD like way to lead you to your next point. The graphics and interface are wonderful. There is no multiplayer. Here is a quick story about the bad guys, during my first interaction with the game, it is at night and I am having a few glasses of wine and doing a video review. I am saying what I just said above but I am bashing the bad guys early on because the game makes it clear that you are to cut off the limbs of the bad guys. So I am think how many variation of 4 limb creatures can you make.... let’s just say the next day when I continued to play, that there are a quite a few scary ways to make bad guys.
So to sum up the pecking order in highly playable to meh: Fallout 3 – GET IT Dead Space COD W@W Far Cry 2 Stalker Clear Sky and Crysis Warhead about equal.
