Company of Heroes: Opposing Force
(textual review pending video review UPDATE: VIDEO REVIEW DONE)
As we do with many of the games we play we buy them from ourselves. This lets us see how the experience is using GameDemo.com
We loved Company of Heroes and when we learned that would be able to offer the Full Version of Company of Heroes : Opposing Forces for download via GameDemo.com we are very excited. When it became available we bought it. THQ does not offer the try then buy method, so only the full version is available. We were a little put off by the price. It is the price of a full game. However, we are huge fans and thought it must be worth it. To cut to the chase, clearly this is an attempt to use the brand to milk every penny from the COH Fans. This adds two forces (British and Panzer Elite) and a few maps and ( at the time of this writing many bugs). In my opinion, this should have been considered an add-on rather than a completely new game. Again, we huge fans of COH, so much like the heroin addict, we will pay the price and return to our solitude in our gaming dungeon.
Now, if you watch my video reviews or have read any of my older stuff, I try to give you my honest opinion and tell you where I am coming from with that opinion. Like I mentioned earlier, we buy many games from ourselves so we can keep in touch with what our customer have to go through. And I must stay it usually is a enjoyable, carefree experience were we get a game, a backup copy online that we can download at any time and the ability to transfer the game to my laptop, so that I can play it while I on the road.
But first COH:OF is a huge download (took us all day), 1.8GB to start then 7.6+GB to download the remaining cut scenes (yep you got to download those too). The size doesn't bother me right off... it is this
Second, I own the CD on the first COH. COH:OF download removes the first and replaces it (much like an add-on would) But you are paying for a new game.
So if you register both under one account can you play them at the same time? (on two computers?) Erh, we are not sure, that is why it left us with a bitter taste and I don't recommend download the 2nd if you have the first or plan on getting the first, get the DVD/disk version. Don’t get me wrong you can, but it will take a very very long time.
So if you’re in the market of COH: OF, I personally would recommend you buy the disk version. You can still buy the disk version via our Amazon GameDemo.com Store. We love Amazon and love the Prime membership; next day deliver for $3.95
I am working on a video review now to show you some in game stuff, problem is I am currently working a new project where my body produces enough phlegm to glue together a small house. Also as a side project, I am trying to see if it is possible to cough up my right lung. It’s great fun! I am installing a wood burner so that I can power the house with my used tissues.
