GameDemo.com Review of Supreme Commander by THQ for PC
SC comes to us at bad time.A few months ago we would have been leaning slightly towards calling this game enjoyable. However, we have another game on our desk right now by THQ as well called Company of Heros. Both are RTS, however CofH is nearly perfect in design and sets the bar very high for SC.
SC offers huge playing maps, but this is part of the problem with it.The warfare area is so huge that you zoom out and simply start playing at that ‘global’ level. It is sort of like playing chess with someone that is sitting on the sidewalk and you are on the roof of a 3rd story building looking down at the board. You see the little icons floating about but they mean little and offer little personal connection / interest for you.
And that sums up the game play for me.While the research tree and the players initial start up options are greater than CofH.After playing for a few hours I felt, disconnected from this game and did not want to waste anymore gaming time on it, that I could be spending towards CofH.
If money and time are precious to you, get CofH first.
