Here is link to full review: Alienware Review Do to the highly unstable nature of the machine we have, the lack of customer support to honor our original request to try to 'punch out' of this nightmare they put me in - we HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT (NOT) purchase a Alienware machine. REMEMBER - to ask yourself it the review you are reading is from someone that personally dealt with customer service or did they just 'get it' to review.
Open Letter to Alienware: After the $6000.00 machine was damaged during shipping and I was told I would get a new machine, then told NO, because nothing was wrong, then told the reason for the delay getting the machine back was because there case was damaged. (I ASKED TO HAVE A FULL REFUND AT THAT TIME) told no and a "$900.00 fee would be charged if I did cancel." delay delay delay... computer arrives but no monitor or speaker... delay delay delay... now speakers are damaged need new speakers. ( please keep in mind - I was told nothing wrong with them when I tried to cancel in the first place.)
My time is limited, I don't have hours to spead w/ tech support - I bought your highend machine because I thought I would not have to deal with this. I don't use this machine that much because I do not trust it and I use my 3 year old Gateway instead. I use it just for games but it still crashes... here is yet another crash today.
I want my orginal request for a refund honored without a restock fee. I will keep the speakers and monitor (they work fine) but I want to ship your computer back to you.
I will continue to post updates about this $6000.00 machine that crashes more than my daughters emachine, my Gateway, my Dell, My Sony Viao and my HP laptop put together - actually those machines run fine, it is only the Alienware that has been the WORST experince with a computer and customer service that I have ever had to deal with.
Hey Kevin, I purchased my m5500 back in March of 2005 and by August, I had to send the unit back to Alienware for a new motherboard and video card. From shipped to received it took over 2 months to get it back from the depot. After that I was so into school I didn't have time to play for almost 6 months, and as soon as I started again, I noticed the fan was running incredibly loud and the bottom of the laptop was so hot that it would burn me. Called alienware and they couldn't get an explanation for me, and by June the video card had once again begun to act up. When August came around, the video card once agian stopped working, my PCMCIA slot had broken and it was back to the depot for more work. I managed to get my computer back in about 2 1/2 weeks, but right out of the box, my speakers started making a horrible scraching sound, the video card once again was trash, and the computer actually started to SHOCK ME!
Worst company ever!!! Good luck
